In September 2001, North American put into commercial operation a 1,600 kW generating station at the
Waste Management owned White Lake Landfill in Whitehall, Michigan.

The generating station is comprised of two-Caterpillar 3516 SITA lean burn engine generator sets which
have been skidded, packaged, and housed. As such, the two units are modular in design, with the engines
enclosed in steel sound attenuated housings, equipped with their own switchgear and house power
supplies. The radiator package is adjacent to the modules.

The units are connected to Consumers Energy Company’s sub-transmission system by a North American
owned 46 kV substation. North American generates power at this site at 4,160 volts.

North American has a 20 year power sales agreement with Consumers Energy Company under their
Renewable Energy Program for the sale of the renewable energy and associated green tags.
